a lot of politicians wasn't amnesty, the texas governor perry sent the troops out to the border for five years. he's one governor at least who is enforcing these laws since the feds are not doing it. get other people involved, other states involved to fight this problem. forget about a national policy emanating from the white house and the justice department. let every state take the laws and enforce them. >> i don't know if you've seen it but there's new immigration numbers out that suggest border arrests are down sharply. the numbers i have in my hand here say 340,000 in fiscal 2011. 705 in 2008, 1.6 million in 2000. what does that say to you? do you believe those numbers and actually think the number of people trying to cross the border has gone down too? >> the only answer i can give you, every time we go out there we're locking up illegals in the workplace, we have no problems arresting them from the border. how domestic this sheriff doesn't have any problems? they are still coming in and you can draw all of the statistics out there but they are still coming in to arizona. >> sherif

wet weather in texas. i'll tell you, that's beneficial. the rain that's moving in there is so needed. we'll take what we can get. the deficit has been pretty high. it's the ninth driest period on record for san antonio. the third driest ever for austin. unfortunately it's going to take a while to catch up with the wet weather. we're also looking at freezing fog in texas. that's going to lower visibility. be careful of a little glaze on the roads, as well. most of the country, though, faring nicely for this sunday in december. some scattered showers on the east coast of florida, also watch out for rip currents because it's going to be unsettled due to the end of the stationary front. nothing we're watching very closely is the storm system developing in california. now this is important because as it works east over the next few days, it will be a storm-maker for areas in the center of the country by the time we get to wednesday. right now our concern is for clouds and fog to develop over california. you can see it gets more intense for mond

you're also seeing a similar language from rick perry the texas governor. he was the front-runner at one time here in iowa and nationally but those poll numbers did drop and he's trying to kick start his campaign making a similar push to social conservatives. take listen to what he said last night about changing his stance when it comes to abortion when it comes to rape and incest. >> that transformation came after watching the dvd "gift of life." the woman who was in the dvd looked at me in the eye and she said you need to think this through. i am the product of a rape. and she said my life is worth it. it was a powerful moment. >> there you go. rick perry last night. and, again, why this pitch to social conservative voters? well they are very influential out here when it comes to the gop, the republican side in the caucuses. they could make the difference in a close contest. >> mark, let me bring you in here to talk about the difference in strategies between rick santorum and rick perry wlan see them necessarily attacking maybe further to the right to try

sure, if that texas cuts expires workers next year will wind up contributing two percentage points than more than they are this year. for dollars and cents for employees who make $35,000 a year that means they'll be paying an extra $700 a year. if you're making $50,000, it means you'll pay an extra $1,000. now it goes on and on. now if the cut is not extended, many economists say it could wind up taking a big bite out of economic growth but critics say when you look at way on how to jump-start the economy, the tax cut hasn't even proven to be the best way because it is not targeted to lower and middle income families who are more likely to spend that extra money than they're getting with each check whereas people who make on the high end over $100,000 are saving that money. while it is good to save, it doesn't necessarily help boost the economy. >> so when you look at this tax cut, is it going to make a huge difference when it comes to consumer spending or even the state of the economy? >> well, if you look at the what the congressional budget office says and what they are estimating is
